Cooking in the Kettle
by Andrea Grimes
Tarantinos and Green Room and Trees may be gone, but theres still a lot of
life down in Deep Ellum, thanks in no small part to Frank Campagna, owner of the Kettle
Art Gallery on Elm Street. Hes got a show opening tomorrow night that Ive been
excited about for a while.
Luckily, I was doing a little cocktailing down that way last evening and snuck into Kettle
for a little preview when I saw a dusty, hard-working Campagna through the window.
Saturdays opening is for To The Nines, featuring work from this
impressive roll-call: Mark Nelson, Anthony Gambino, Jason Barnett, Erica Felicella,
Richard Ross, Judith Lea Perkins, Marie Sena, Mattson Plummer, Greg Landis and Matt Anzak.
All the artists created work specifically for this show.
Just flipping through the canvases leaning against the wall, I saw some fantastic stuff.
Tattoo-style art, Operation references, and so much more. I cant wait to see it on
the walls and maybe take a piece or two home. Campagna told me much of the work would be
very affordably priced. Shows 7-10 p.m. tomorrow night. Ill see yall
there
